For those of you running Sacmi SBF 12/24 or KHS lines, you know that the replacement lamps aren’t just parts you swap out every few months. They’re actually your best bet for controlling how the heat hits that preform. The nitty-gritty on heat density We built these lamps to fit exactly where the OEM ones go. No hacking, no forcing. When you slide in a high-wattage quartz halogen tube, you’re playing a balancing act with voltage and power. We use a more compact filament to concentrate the infrared energy, which helps the preform hit its glass transition temperature fast. Just a heads-up: make sure your power supplies are calibrated. If they’re off, you’re just asking for a premature burnout. Fixing those annoying cold spots If you’re on a KHS machine, you’ve probably dealt with “cold spots”—those frustrating gaps where the radiation just isn’t hitting evenly. To fix this, we tweaked the quartz glass and the way the filament is positioned. The goal? A flatter heat curve. You won’t have a scorching center and freezing ends. Real-world trade-offs Here’s the thing. Switching to high-grade domestic lamps usually tightens up your heat field and fills those distribution gaps. It feels better, and the bottles look better. But there’s a catch. Pushing more heat density puts a lot more stress on your oven’s ventilation. If you crank up the wattage to shave seconds off your cycle speed, your cooling blowers have to keep up with the extra ambient heat.
