
Stop Fighting Your SIPA Rotary Machine
Ever feel like you’re chasing your tail with your SIPA rotary machine? One minute the bottles look great, the next you’ve got wall thickness issues or, worse, bottles bursting on the line. Most people start by messing with the machine settings. But here’s the thing: the problem usually isn’t the settings. It’s the lamps. When you use “close-enough” replacement lamps instead of ones that actually match the power specs, you end up with a mess of hot spots and cold zones. It’s a nightmare to balance.
The Headache of “Almost” Right
We build our replacement lamps for Krones S24 and SIPA platforms to hit the exact wattage and voltage they were designed for. Why does that matter? Because even a tiny 5% difference in power changes how the heat hits the plastic. When the lamps don’t match, your operators try to fix it by cranking up the oven temp. That usually just ends up overheating the neck of the preform. It’s a lose-lose situation.
No Fancy Rewiring Needed
We use high-purity quartz glass. It’s a simple choice, but it means the heat goes straight into the PET material instead of getting trapped in the glass. Plus, we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They just slide right in. You don’t have to touch the wiring or modify your holders. It’s a true drop-in replacement. We also added a coating that pushes the heat inward. It keeps the preform hot and the oven housing cooler, which just makes sense for everyone.
A Quick Tip from the Field
Getting the power match right solves the fluctuation problem, but there’s a catch. High-density IR lamps pull a lot of current. If your electrical contacts are pitted or worn, you’re asking for trouble. A loose socket creates resistance, and that will kill a lamp fast—no matter how good the quartz is. Do yourself a favor: every time you swap a bank of lamps, take a second to inspect the sockets. It takes a few minutes now, but it saves you from a massive headache and unplanned downtime later.
