Getting Into the Details
At the heart of it all is the quartz infrared tube. It runs straight off standard mains voltage—230V or 240V—so you can wire it up without needing any fancy transformers. These tubes pack a serious punch in a small package. We’re talking about 2500W of power in a tube just 300mm long. That’s a lot of heat, which means the fixture has to be tough enough to handle it. Higher wattage means higher surface temperature, plain and simple. So we use a solid ceramic holder and wiring that’s rated for the heat. No shortcuts.
What It’s Built From
The quartz glass body is your first line of defense. It handles sudden temperature changes and shuts out moisture way better than ordinary glass. Inside, the halogen gas and filament design keeps the output steady for thousands of hours. But the real safety feature? The double-insulated construction. The electrical parts are completely separated from the outer casing. We use R7s base connectors because they lock in tight, even at high temperatures. So the live parts stay inside, and the outside stays safe to touch—even when the air is soaking wet.
Where It Shines
Bathrooms and saunas are tough environments. Condensation never stops, and many heaters just give up and short out. Our quartz infrared lamps take the hit. The sealed quartz envelope keeps moisture out, and the ceramic socket keeps the wiring dry. It’s a straight swap that installs fast and runs without tripping safety cut-offs. Just one thing to keep in mind: the tube runs hot. So you need to mount the fixture with enough space around it to prevent overheating nearby materials.
